Community

In this section of our website we would like to share our images of events and visits with you.  We have also added information about our close links with our local community, some visit our school on a regular basis and work closely with us to help make changes.

Reverend Elaine

Reverend Elaine is the vicar from St. Cuthbert’s church in Manor Way, Peterlee.

Our children are enjoying assemblies with Reverend Elaine. On a Monday, Reverend Elaine and some volunteers form the church come into school to tell the children some stories from the bible. The children are able to act them out and help out in assembly. This contributes to part of our RE curriculum.

Panto- 19.01.16

Our children enjoyed a trip to Shotton Hall Banqueting Suite to watch Peter Pan. Peterlee Town Council invited us to see the show. A good time was had by all.

Allotments on Lowhills Road

We are very lucky, we have some raised beds at Lowhills allotments. We have enjoyed visiting the allotments, in small groups. The children will be planting vegetables and flowers over the next year. This is a wonderful resource and we are enjoying making string links with the local community. If you have any spare time and would like to help out at the allotments, please pop into the school office and leave your details.

Carol singing at The Hawthorns Nursing home

Twenty children from year 2 visited the nursing home on 16th December. The children sang Christmas carols and songs to the residents. It was a lovely morning and our children brightened up the resident’s day.

Food bank

This year, staff collected donations of food and sent it to the FEED project at East Durham Trust. This is a service very local to the school. The school council decided this would be a good place for our donations to be sent.

On Thursday 17th December, all children in year 2 sang Christmas carols and songs at York Road shops. We were well supported by our parents and local community. Mrs. Thomas took donations from parents and we raised £100. This was also sent to the FEED project.
